Scotty Cameron famously makes a gold plated putter for any golfer that obtains a PGA Tour victory while using one of his putters. Needless to say, few of these putters have ever reached the collector market - especially from any well known player or important event.
According to our resident Scotty Cameron expert Bill "Vog" Vogeney, most collectors don't know that between 1995 and 2001, Scotty also made 1 gold plated putter to celebrate a tour victory and put them in a set that was used for promotional purposes at the annual PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. Vog knows - he's been to every show except 1 since 1989 and has seen every set! These sets, according to Vog, were never offered to the public but were sold to Edwin Watts, the owner of one of the largest chains of golf shops at the time. These sets have been locked away in that collection until the last few years before slowly coming to the market.
Offered here is an exceptional one - made to celebrate Phil Mickelson's victory in the 2001 Buick Invitational. A left handed Scotty Cameron Newport Tour model. In near mint unused condition. 9.8/10. 35".
