Offered here is a limited edition of 1983 Ben Hogan Personal Model irons that are brand new in their original box. 2 iron through 9 iron, and an Equalizer wedge. Made to commemorate 30 years since Hogan started his own equipment company, this set replicating the first set of irons the company produced.
Legend has it that the original sets-woods and irons-were designed by Hogan in 53/54, equipment purchased, employees hired, and the initial production of his new clubs were ready to be inspected by Ben himself. Except they did not meet his expectations for one reason or another. He ordered them destroyed and remade-ultimately $100,000 of retail value. Again, legend has it he lost most of his investors, with only Marvin Leonard staying on board to fund the company. That was his commitment to quality.
Matching serial number "125" with matching medallion. An incredible find for the Hogan collector.
