Coal was used to heat many Scottish homes during the early 1900s and before. Cast iron stoves were used for both heating and cooking. A short coal stove poker could come in handy, especially if the stove was smaller. this one measures 15" in length and is marked "Forgan, St. Andrews" on the line scored, flanged clubhead.  It is marked "Lang May, Reek" (Scottish vernacular for "Long may your chimney smoke") on the poker end.
