This circa 1850s McEwan 44 1/2" original shaft and sheepskin grip.  The grip has whipping applied a few inches up from the bottom of the grip as the bottom of the grip was replaced with new sheepskin back in the day.  This is actually a great feature as it shows the significant age of the club, the skill of the artisan who made the repair, and the nature of golfers who would do whatever was needed to fix the clubs so they could keep using them.

McEwan is one of the great names in the clubmaking world, and this McEwan is beautifully made.  Head measures 6" long x 2" width x 1" face depth with a gently hooked face. Shaft is slender, a featherball-era characteristic.
