The inaugural North & South Amateur began on April 1, 1901. This trophy was awarded 3 years later. As part of the tournament, driving, approaching and putting contests were held for both men and women.
Here we have the trophy awarded to Mr. M. C. Parshall for winning the Putting Contest.
This 3 handle sterling silver trophy is a special piece - In exceptional condition, this loving cup measures 4 1/4" tall, 2 3/4" diameter at opening, weighs 4.43 OZT. The Pinehurst Golf Club United North and South Annual Tournament was a national event that sought to attract the best golfers. It helped put Pinehurst on the national golf map.
