Circa 1870 unmarked lofter with nicely dished face. Whipping across the middle section of the shaft was likely installed to fix a crack, but sometimes used to stiffen the shaft. The wrought iron head is sizable with a very nice look. Shaft appears original with its original sheepskin grip. 4 1/2" hosel length, 13/16" thickness. This is a fine example of the lofting irons that accompanied the long nose clubs golfers used in the 1870s. 40 3/4" long.
