This Park molded mesh gutty ball was made in 1898 by Willie Park Jr. in Edinburgh, Scotland. Golf magazine described it as "fine and clearly nicked, of a unique mold, and well painted....It is in all respects a splendid ball..." (June 24, 1898) Golf reported that this was the ball used by Willie Park Jr in the 1898 Open as well as in a big money match with fellow Open Champion, Willie Fernie.
This particular ball offered here shows use, with several strike marks to the surface, but retains good paint coverage.
