This beautiful sterling silver putter head is stamped "sterling" along its neck and with the "Walter Hagen" signature and "putter" on the back. It also bears the "Lambert Bros Jewelers New York" logo stamp. All stamping is still deep and clear.
The December 1925 issue of "Golf Illustrated" describes this putter as "the exact replica of the putter used by Walter Hagen in four open championships. Head ... of sterling silver, shaft of selected wood. Suitable gift inscription can be engraved on back of the club." Some of these clubs were presented as prizes at tournaments. This particular one has no additional engraving on it, to indicate any winner or specific tournament.
As these clubs were also made for play, sometimes they are found in used, dented condition. This example remains in wonderful original condition and when put on display will shine bright for all to admire!
The hickory shaft and leather wrap grip are original.
