This is a high grade copy of the 1891 Rules of Golf as approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. This is the very 1st set of rules published by the R&A intended for the worldwide golf community.  Prior to this, the R&A rules were published only for the club, and other clubs devised their own rules loosely based on the R&A rules. This 1891 copy represents the earliest examples of a global rule set for the game of golf.
