Offered here is the earliest Type 1 photograph of Bobby Jones that we've ever located - a circa 1917 World War I era photo of a ~14 year old Bobby Jones. Almost all known photographs of a teenage Bobby Jones are not Type 1 originals - they were printed well into the 1920s after Jones was famous.
Bobby Jones is depicted here wearing a black ribbon - almost certainly dating this image to when Bobby Jones competed in Red Cross golf matches top support the war effort. The young Jones was part of the Dixie Whiz Kids, who traveled around the country in support of the war effort alongside his pals Perry Adair, Alexa Stirling, and Elaine Rosenthal.
This 6 1/2" x 8 1/4" photograph is stamped on the reverse by the photographer Kadel & Herbert - a popular New York photographer in the 1910s and 1920s. PSA Type 1.
