Handwritten letter on golf equipment from India in the 1870s from M.C. McArthur, Secretary of O.G.C. Debbi College. The letter bemoans the poor exchange rate for sending golf equipment out of India, likely referring to gutta percha. The letter also asks the recipient to send material to "the Calcutta Firm." Peter Crabtree believed "presumably" that this letter was sent to Tom Morris, but the recipient is not named. It is a very interesting letter describing the trade between St Andrews and India in the 1870s.
This was previously owned by Tom Morris biographer and Historian Peter Crabtree, and was part of his legendary collection.
