Here's a club that most long-time MacGregor collectors have never even heard about let alone seen. This copper-plated MacGregor VIP TP IMG putter was made in the early 1960s as a special order. It was not offered in MacGregor's catalogs. Designed by Toney Penna, the TP VIP IMG makes a perfect companion piece to the MacGregor's VIP TP63 irons with the copper pyramid faces, a special order iron set Penna designed and MacGregor produced in 1963. This was the putter that the MacGregor Frank Sinatra 1963 Invitational putter was modeled after.
The 35-inch shaft and Golf Pride Informer grip are original. The protective clear coat on the copper plating (clear coating was done to protect the copper from oxidation and tarnishing) has come off in places, as shown in the images. but the copper itself has been well protected. It is rich in color and shows no wear. The club appears unused as the head does not have any bag wear. The top line, leading edge, and flange edges are clean with no perceptible dings. Fabulous club!
