Rare Grand Slam Ventures
Golf Card Book
The Grand Slam
Ventures set was originally produced in the early 1990's with a card for each
Masters Tournament Champion. Each subsequent year, another card would be
produced for that year's champion. While the cards were generally
purchased as a set, there are also a limited number of books produced for the
cards as well. The books contained the actual cards, and a new page could
be purchased each year after the Masters. The Grand Slam Ventures cards
were known to some serious collectors, but didn't get much recognition until
they released the first-ever Tiger Woods card. There was only one problem
- Grand Slam Ventures reportedly did not have authorization to produce Tiger's
likeness. Production of the cards were stopped and collectors were
scrambling to find as many of the Grand Slam Ventures cards as possible.
Presented here
is the original book containing the Grand Slam Ventures golf set, from 1993.
Long before the Tiger hoopla, this set was obtained by a collector and kept in
remarkable shape. The book contains the pages (and the actual cards) of
every Masters Champion from 1934 (Horton Smith) to 1993 (Langer). The cards from this book are not the regular Grand Slam Ventures cards, however, but are the rare gold foil editions that can only be found in these books.
