1933 NCAA Championship
Contestant's Medal
Presented here is an actual contestant's medal from the 1933 NCAA Men's Golf
Championship. Along with the U.S. Amateur, the NCAA Championship is one of the
two most important and significant amateur tournaments. Many NCAA Champions have
gone on to have great success in professional golf, including Jack Nicklaus
(1961), Ben Crenshaw (1971-1973), Hale Irwin (1967), Phil Mickelson (1989, 1990)
and Tiger Woods (1996).
This medal was the credentials for a
contestant at the 1933 NCAA Championship, which was won by Yale University
(team) and Walter Emery (individual) of the University of Oklahoma.
