Original 1930 Currier & Ives
Print Signed by Bobby Jones
When Bobby Jones won the Grand Slam in 1930, he went from being famous to
legendary overnight. We have the extreme privilege of offering this 1930
Currier & Ives Bobby Jones print, which is autographed by Bobby Jones. This
print originally appeared in our Summer 2007 auction, where it sold for $4,700.
Before that auction, the print was owned by the same family since it was
originally given as a wedding gift in 1932. Our winning bidder from 2007
took this piece and had it professionally framed. The result is simply
spectacular. The print itself measures 11" x 15.5" and contains a full,
vintage Bobby Jones signature. The print was actually a foldout from the September 1930 Fortune Magazine. There were 999 produced and there are not many that survived. Of course very few were signed by Jones. Signatures from Bobby Jones long after his
retirement from golf are very desirable, but are much more common. This is a
rare opportunity to obtain an original 1930 Currier & Ives print that contains a
1930 or 1931 signature of the greatest golfer of all-time.
