1925 U.S. Open Champion
Willie Mcfarlane Signed Index Card
The 1925 U.S.
Open was won by Willie Macfarlane of Scotland in one of the most dramatic
conclusions of all-time. After 72 holes, the tournament was tied - both
Macfarlane and the legendary Bobby Jones were deadlocked at 291. Then,
after an 18 hole playoff, the two men were tied again. Yet another 18 hole
playoff was needed to decide the 1925 U.S. Open Champion, when Willie Macfarlane
defeated Bobby Jones by a single stroke.
Presented here is one of the few authentic autographs from the great 1925 U.S.
Open Champion known to exist. Macfarlane died almost 50 years ago, in
1961, which explains the extreme rarity of his signatures. While any
signature by Macfarlane would be significant, this exceptional signed and
notated card is surely the finest Macfarlane signature in existence.
