The Ryder Cup
Rare U.S. Open Champion Chick Evans Signed
3 x 5 card
Chick Evans became the first amateur to win the U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur in
the same year when he completed the feat in 1916. He then won the U.S. Amateur
again in 1920.
Very few autographs of the great
champion Chick Evans exist since he died over 3 decades ago, in 1979. But
presented here is a spectacular autograph of Chick Evans, complete with his own
annotation about winning the U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur. This autograph appears
to have been obtained in 1946, as evidenced by the postmark on the reverse of
the card. The original recipient of this autograph was apparently sending away
for signatures decades before it was popular - and it resulted in this
spectacular autograph of an early Major Champion.
