The Ryder Cup
Historic Original 1894 Freddie Tait
Photograph
Freddie
Tait was one of the greatest golfers of his day. He won the 1896 and 1898
British Amateur and finished 3rd twice in the Open Championship before his
untimely death in the Second Boer War. Due to the fact that Tait's career only
lasted a few years, and he died 110 years ago, in 1900, very few authentic Tait
memorabilia exist. This is certainly one of the finest pieces of Tait
memorabilia in existence - an actual photograph of the great champion playing
golf at Prestwick. The photo is dated on the reverse as "Feb 1894", which is a
more than 2 years prior to Tait's first British Amateur victory. With that
knowledge, it is safe to say that this photograph is surely one of the oldest,
if not the oldest, photographs of Freddie Tait golfing in existence. This
beautiful original photo measures approximayely 3"x3 1/2".
