Significant Dwight Eisenhower Masters Portrait

Presented here is a rare print of President Dwight D. Eisenhower in his Augusta National Golf Club Green Jacket. This remarkable portrait of Eisenhower was created by famed portrait painter and Eisenhower friend Thomas E. Stephens. The original painting upon which this print is based currently hangs in the Butler Cabin at Augusta National Golf Club, and can be prominently seen as players are interviewed in Butler Cabin after their round.

Thomas Stephens was one of the most famous portrait painters of the 1940's to 1950's. His portraits of Dwight Eisenhower can currently be found at the White House, the National Portrait Gallery, and the The Smithsonian Institute. Additionally, Stephen's portraits of the Eisenhower and his family can be found on display at both The Eisenhower Presidential Library and the Eisenhower National Historic Site at his former home in Gettysburg, PA.

Many of you may also know Stephens for his Bobby Jones painting which also hangs in Augusta National's Butler Cabin, and is prominently displayed each year on television when the latest Masters Tournament winner is interviewed and presented with the Green Jacket. That Bobby Jones painting by Stephens was also the painting which President Eisenhower famously copied for one of his first-ever attempts at painting.

For the portrait presented here, Augusta National Golf Club, through then-President Eisenhower, commissioned Thomas Stephens to paint individual portraits of Bobby Jones, Clifford Roberts and Dwight Eisenhower in their Green Jackets. Those original paintings currently hang at Augusta National Golf Club. Presented here is one of a rare print of that painting of Eisenhower in his Green Jacket. The beauty of this significant print cannot be underestimated.
