Rare 1896 British Amateur Memorabilia

1896 and 1898 British Amateur Champion Freddie Tait died at the young age of 31 in 1900 during the Second Boer War. Naturally, very few pieces of Tait memorabilia. But presented here are some rare memorabilia from Tait's 1896 British Amateur victory.

This lot contains a very rare collection from the 1896 British Amateur Championship held at Royal St. Georges and won by F.G. Tait. It comprises a photograph of spectators leaving the course after the final, 8x6 inches; a photograph of Royal St. Georges clubhouse with golfers in the background, 8x6 inches; and three letters of congratulations for Freddie winning the Championship, one of which is in the form of a poem.
