Recalled Tiger Woods Franklin Mint Coin

        In 1997, Franklin Mint attempted to produced a limited edition Tiger Woods silver coin despite being unauthorized to do so.  Tiger's lawyers fiercely challenged Franklin Mint's authority to do so, and a judge ruled that unlike newspapers and magazines, a commercial medallion could not enjoy freedom of the press protection. Tiger Woods was awarded damages by the court, and the commemorative Tiger Woods coins were ordered to be destroyed.

        Well now you know the background, but we know that one thing is for certain - not all of them were actually destroyed.  Presented here is the rare Tiger Woods Franklin Mint silver coin that, according to Franklin Mint, was never issued to the public.
