Jack Nicklaus' 1967 British Open Used
8-Iron
18-time Major Champion Jack Nicklaus used this custom Slazenger "Jack Nicklaus"
8-iron in the 1967 Open Championship, where he finished 2nd place to Roberto De
Vicenzo. This custom club is also stamped "JN 67", indicating Nicklaus' use of
it during the 1967 season.
Nicklaus' clubs from the 1967 Open were originally donated to a charity and then
used as a competition prize. This spectacular Nicklaus Tournament-Used golf club
was initially offered in the November 2007 Graham Budd/Sotheby's auction in
London.
While a Jack Nicklaus used British Open golf club is certainly special enough,
one can surmise that this club was also used a month earlier when Jack won the
1967 U.S. Open at Baltusrol Golf Club. It may be difficult to determine that for
certain, but it definitely seems like a reasonable presumption.
