Rare 1870's Blacksmith Cleak
In the 1870's and prior, even though most woods were produced by famous
clubmakers like Tom Morris and Hugh Philp, the majority of irons were still made
by blacksmiths, who were already skilled metalworkers. These early irons were
often quite large and heavy compared to the irons that would soon follow.
The iron offered here is a blacksmith iron, circa 1870-1875. The large blade
measures a large 5 inches long, and the hosel is a full 1-inch thick.
