Ben Hogan
Circa 1920's Faroid Golf Gutta Purcha Golf
Ball
The Faroid Golf Ball is one
of the most famous balls in history - one of the true "timeline" balls in golf
history. First created in 1915, this gutta percha ball with a liquid center was
intended to be struck at a certain angle (logo-side up) to gain benefits from
its concentric rings. Faroids are valued in Chuck Furjanic's 2004 Antique Golf
Collectibles Price Guide at between $1,750 and $8,000 depending on condition.
Well, the example offered here is exceptional. The ball retains 100% of its
original paint, and the "Faroid", "75" and "Liquid Center" text all display
beautifully.
