Circa 1820's Track Iron

While it was certainly a privilege to offer a circa 1860 John Gray Rut Iron in our last auction (See Archived Auctions, Winter 2011 Golf Auction Lot 5), the iron offered here is a truly stunning early example of a Track Iron. This exceptionally small-headed, round Track Iron likely dates to somewhere between the 1820's and 1840's. It has a long 6" hosel and a very thick, concave face that measures only 2", and a thick top line. The club is also much more upright than its later, more common counterparts. Not many of these smaller, early Track Irons are known.
