The Ryder Cup
Jerome Travers' 1921 Metropolitan Golf
Assoc.
Amateur Trophy
Offered here is the rare opportunity to own an actual trophy won by World Golf
Hall of Famer Jerome Travers in 1921. This stunning 11" tall sterling silver
trophy was awarded to Travers for winning New York's 1921 Metropolitan Golf
Association 21st Amateur Championship Four Ball Match.
As reported in the next day's June 11, 1921 New York Times
Willie Reekie
and Jerome D. Travers, representing Upper Montclair in Club Pairs
Foursome, which was played in the afternoon made a runaway race of the
event by turning in a card of 69 against a par of 73. They had 38 going
out, only twice being over the par figures with a birdie three on the
fifth. They had 5 birdies coming back which with the other four holes
played in par gave them a 31 for the inward journey. 19 pairs took part
in the event.
