Doug Sanders' 1967 British Open

Contestant's Badge

THE DOUG SANDERS COLLECTION

Offered in this auction are some exceptional pieces of memorabilia from the personal collection of former PGA Tour star Doug Sanders. Doug Sanders won 20 times on the PGA Tour, and finished in the top 4 in every Major Championship. Despite his overwhelming success as a professional golfer, Mr. Sanders is notoriously remembered for missing a 3-foot putt to win the 1970 Open Championship at St. Andrews - a tournament that Jack Nicklaus would go on to win by one stroke in a playoff the next day.

Presented in this lot is Doug Sanders' personal contestant's badge from the 1967 Open Championship, which was won by Roberto De Vicenzo at Royal Liverpool. This piece comes with a letter of authenticity from Doug Sanders himself.
