Rare 1991 US Open Golf Flag
Offered here is one of the rarest and most desirable souvenir golf flags ever
produced - the official 1991 US Open flag from Payne Stewart's victory at
Hazeltine. As any golf flag collector can attest, this orange flag is one of the
rarest golf flags that was ever produced. Long before golf flags were sold at
golf tournaments (and on the internet) in large quantities, a very limited
number of these flags were made for the 1991 U.S. Open. And since the great
Payne Stewart won this tournament, demand for this flag far exceeds the limited
number that are known to exist.
How rare is this flag? The 2004
edition of Gilchrist's Guide to Golf Collectibles, which was released 9 years
ago when the flag collecting hobby was still in its infancy, lists this flag at
the then-unheard of $700, making it the 2nd most valuable souvenir golf flag
behind the 1997 Masters flag.
