        Rare original autographed warm-toned vintage bromide photograph of golf champion Alexa Stirling. Autographed in black ink on recto in Stirling's hand "With Love to My Buddy. Alexa".

        Alexa Stirling (1897-1977) grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and was a childhood (and lifelong) friend of Bobby Jones. Stirling won 3 straight U.S. Women's Amateur titles - in 1916, 1919, and 1920 (unfortunately for her, no events were held in 1917 and 1918 during WWI) - and was runner-up three times. She was portrayed by actress Stephanie Sparks in the 2004 Hollywood film, Bobby Jones: A Stroke of Genius.

Condition: Excellent overall. Remnants of linen tape hinges on verso. Photo measures 6"x 4 3/8".
