Ben Hogan
1950 Ben Hogan
Driving Wire Photo
As you've no doubt seen by now, this Winter Golf
Auction by Green Jacket Auctions represents one of the greatest sales of golf
photographs in history. From Old Tom Morris & the origins of professional golf
to Bobby Jones & the founding of Augusta National, many of the offered
photographs are among the finest such examples in the hobby.
This is unquestionably one of our
favorite Ben Hogan images of all-time. The caption on the reverse explains it
all, as this photo has been dubbed "Smilin' Through" due to the unmistakable
grin on the face of the always-stoic Ben Hogan.
This 1950 Ben Hogan photograph
depicts Hogan as he drives the ball at the Los Angeles Open - a tournament he
would lose in a playoff to Sam Snead.
Detailed 7"x9" photograph in nice
condition with some mild handling wear and a few light creases. Reverse has
original 1950 full paper caption and a stamp from the United Press and a
reference NEA stamp from many years later.
