Ben Hogan
1932 Gene Sarazen Posing
w/ 3 Major Trophies Wire Photo
As you've no doubt seen by now, this Winter Golf
Auction by Green Jacket Auctions represents one of the greatest sales of golf
photographs in history. From Old Tom Morris & the origins of professional golf
to Bobby Jones & the founding of Augusta National, many of the offered
photographs are among the finest such examples in the hobby.
This original 1932 photograph depicts
Gene Sarazen after his victories in the Open Championship and U.S. Open. In the
photo, Sarazen is seen holding the Claret Jug and U.S. Open Trophy. The
photographer has also added a photo of the PGA Championship's Wanamaker Trophy,
which Sarazen had won years earlier. In these early days of photography, this
was no easy task!
This 6"x8" photo has a corner crease, some crazing and also a few pinholes.
Beautiful and rare image. Reverse has full paper caption and stamps from Acme
and NEA.
