This magnificent 8 x 10 Acme Newspictures
Wire photo captures Bobby Jones and his entourage (wife, parents, grandfather)
on board the "reception boat" Macon after just having disembarked from the
overseas journey aboard the S.S. Aquitania. Jones was arriving home from his
British Open Championship victory at Royal Lytham & St. Anne's and would be
honored with a ticker tape parade in New York City on July 2nd, 1926. He quickly
then rushed to Columbus, Ohio and won the U.S. Open at Scioto CC to become the
first man ever to win both the U.S. and British Opens in the same year.
