Letter From Eisenhower's Secretary
to Augusta National Pro Ed Dudley
In this auction, we have the extreme privilege of offering the personal
collection of the late Ed Dudley. In addition to being a 15 time winner on the
PGA Tour, Dudley is probably best known for being the 1st Head Pro at Augusta
National. Not only was he Head Pro at Augusta, Dudley also competed in every
Masters Tournament from 1934 to 1950. Dudley was also the golf coach for Dwight
Eisenhower, Bing Crosby and Bob Hope.
This is an original letter from
President Dwight Eisenhower's secretary to Augusta National Head Pro Ed Dudley.
The President's Secretary enclosed a list those who attended a Stag Dinner at
the White House the previous evening, which included Dudley, President
Eisenhower, Douglas MacArthur, and CIA Director Allen Dulles. A wonderful cozy
dinner at The White House for 15.
