Byron Nelson Signed

1941 Match Play Ticket

This is an original ticket to a 1941 Match Play event between Byron Nelson and George Haney. The ticket contains an exceptional autograph of Nelson, as well as his competitor Haney. Since this ticket contains vintage autographs of both Nelson and Haney, the only logical explanation is that these autographs were obtained at the event back in the 1941.

In the 1930's to 50's, private 18 or 36 hole Match Play events were staged around the country. These extremely popular events were a great way for touring pros to make some money, and a great way for private clubs to host some of their favorite golfers without needing to stage a full-fledged tournament. This event took place at the Country Club of Columbus on April 17, 1941.
