Historical 1860s Royal Perth Golf Club
Match Book

Rarely does a document of such historic importance reach the collector market. Offered here is the original golf match record book from Royal Perth Golf Club from 1867 through the late 1870s. Challenge Matches - usually between 4 golfers (often 2 caddies and 2 gentlemen) - were in its heyday in the late 1860s and through the 70s, and this is the actual golf match ledger book from one of the most important golf clubs in Scotland. This museum-worthy book is a treasure trove of early Challenge Match information, and includes matches such as the great Old Tom Morris paired with Major Boothby. Also included in this Match Book are names like Perth's own Bob Andrews, as well as George Condie, Watty MacDonald, Robert Moncrieff, R C I Blair and many others! In addition to foursome matches, the book also contains detailed records of the Royal Perth Club Tournaments, including its annual Silver and Gold Medal events. All entries are beautifully handwritten in ink.

This match book is a treasure trove of historical documentation on early golf matches. The ledger is over 100 pages and includes details on dozens and dozens of golf matches. Measures 11" x 8.5" and is 3/4" thick.
