Exceptional Early 1970s
Masters Tournament Sign

Golf collectors have long considered original signs from Augusta National or the Masters Tournament to be "Holy Grail" pieces. I guess this makes sense, as who wouldn't want an original Masters Tournament sign to proudly display in their golf collection? The problem, as you can imagine, is that very few original signs from Augusta National have ever been offered for public sale. Oh but when they do, they sell for top dollar. (See Winter 2014 Auction, Augusta National "Positively No Admittance" Sign sells for $19,628: http://tinyurl.com/AugustaSign)

As far as original Augusta National signs go, the offered example is surely the finest ever offered for sale. And until an Augusta front gate sign ever hits the auction block (surely for six figures), this will likely be the finest sign we ever offer. This sign is truly magnificent, as it truly captures the ultra-restictive Augusta National in every way. And unlike almost all signs at Augusta National, this one even specifically says "Masters Tournament", which is extraordinary.

This signed also comes with impeccable provenance, as it comes directly from longtime Augusta National photographer Frank Christian. This wood sign measures 18" x 24", and is believed to date to the early 1970s or prior.
