Blue Copeland Spode Water Jug
Presented
here
is a Blue Spode stoneware Water Jug/Pitcher. This water jug is larger than the example shown in Sprung’s Book, Decorative
Golf Collectibles, page 22. The book notes that the firm dates back to 1770 and that
these pieces were crafted in the ‘early 1900s’ (1910s-1930s). The jug measures 7” high and was 7” in diameter (not including the handle). The Copeland-Spode maker’s mark is located on the base. There is a very faint hairline near the top of the handle - not noticeable unless looking for it, and not a serious flaw.
