Presented here is a scarce photograph from the 1894 US Amateur Championship. When you look at the history of the US Amateur, one will usually see the first year listed as Charles Blair Macdonald's victory in 1895. However, two different National Amateur Championships were held in 1894. This caused C.B. Macdonald to lead the charge for the formation of the USGA to consolidate and sanction an official Championship each year.

Very little exists from those 1894 US Amateur Championships, but offered in this lot is an original photograph from the 1894 "National Amateur Championship" that was held at St Andrews Golf Club and won by Laurence B. Stottard. This photograph was printed by Brown Bros. in New York, and they have confirmed that it was printed by them sometime between 1904 and 1920.

The photograph measures 8 x 10. It had crease and separated, and has been re-taped on the back some time ago.
