Exceptional circa 1880s cabinet card photograph of Willie Park, Jr.  Willie Park, Jr. was the son of the great Willie Park, Sr., though he himself elevated the family name even further. Park not only won two Open Championships, he also designed approximately 150 golf courses, was the first professional golfer to write a book, and was a successful creator and seller of golf balls and clubs.

This cabinet card depicts a striking portrait of a young Willie Park, Jr. The crystal clear image Park appears to show him as a young man in his 20s during the height of his playing career in the late 1880s. Park won the 1887 and 1889 Open Championships, so it would make sense that he would sit for a studio portrait around that time. The cabinet card is far rarer than later images of Willie Park, as photography became more prevalent in the 1890s and later. Measures 6 1/2" x 4 1/4".
