The Met Amateur, which is hosted by the Metropolitan Golf Association, is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the country. It was first held in 1899, and thrives to this day. One of the all-time great amateurs, Jerome Travers, dominated the event during his prime - winning the Met Amateur 5 times.

Offered here is one of Travers' actual trophies from the 1913 Met Amateur - a tournament he would go on to win. This trophy was awarded to Travers for having the lowest qualifying round score at Fox Hills on Staten Island. Apparently Travers never cooled off from his hot start, as he won the tournament a couple days later - his 3rd straight Met Amateur victory.

This trophy is a sterling silver pedestal dish that is produced by Tiffany & Co. 3 3/4" tall x 9 1/8" across.

Letter of provenance from Mrs. Jerome Travers
