Offered here is a circa 1917 Fitzjohn & Stanton nickel-plated patent adjustable putter. This unusual putter has an adjustable mechanism operated by a bolt running through the back of the hosel and into the head - allowing the putter to be adjusted to any lie, and to also be used either right handed, left handed, or croquet style. This club originates from the famed Jeff Ellis Collection, and was featured in his books, The Golf Club (p. 104) and The Clubmaker's Art (TCA 1, p. 520; TCA 2, p. 658). This club has not reached the collector market since its sale at the 2007 Sotheby's auction of the Jeff Ellis Collection.
