Offered here are two circa 1914 Burke patent "Endgrain" Multipiece head clubs - a putter and a "driving putter." Both clubs are made from two separate pieces of wood forming the head and neck. Vulcanite insert to leading edge of sole, and lead backweight stamped "Burke Golf Co." Very good condition.
These clubs originate from the famed Jeff Ellis Collection, and these exact clubs were featured in his books The Clubmaker's Art (TCA 1, p. 355; TCA 2, p. 433). These clubs have not reached the collector market since their sale at the 2007 Sotheby's auction of the Jeff Ellis Collection.
