Offered here is a circa 1905 Tooley & Sons design-registered toe and heel weighted "straight driving iron." Unusual and innovative feature of bulbous backweighting both the heel and toe. This was a revolutionary golf club design at the time. According to Jeff Ellis, "less than 10 Tooley double ball back irons are known." Excellent condition. 

This clubs originates from the famed Jeff Ellis Collection, and this exact club was featured in his books, The Golf Club (p.95) and The Clubmaker's Art (TCA 1, p. 451; TCA 2, p. 571). This club has not reached the collector market since its sale at the 2007 Sotheby's auction of the Jeff Ellis Collection.
