Offered here is a circa 1909 Patent "Mills WD Model" Metalwood. Though metal woods are often described as a recent invention, this is a wonderful example from the early 1900s. Quite interestly, though the head itself is aluminum, the face is wood. Overall very good condition with some cracks to the wood face and some scuffs on aluminum head.  

This club originates from the famed Jeff Ellis Collection, and this exact club was featured in his books The Clubmaker's Art (TCA 1, p. 283; TCA 2, p. 338). This club has not reached the collector market since its sale at the 2007 Sotheby's auction of the Jeff Ellis Collection.
