Pembroke A. Vaile, a Barrister at Law of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, and Frederick Ayres, a manufacturer in London, received a British patent dated 1904 that covered this left-handed swan neck driver. The large bend in the neck is formed so the shaft lines up with the center of the face, hence there is no offset. Vaile also produced an iron and putter model with this swan neck, but they are more common. His swan neck driver is the rarest of the three.

This left-handed PA Vaile swan neck driver has its original 42" shaft and textured rubber grip. An old label still on the shaft reads "Presented by F.A. Taylor Oxford 1905."

For more on Vaile and his swan neck clubs, see TCA2 v1 p204-205.
