Made by William Gibson, the Woodfaced Putter offered here is of the Smith-neck anti-shank variety. This particular example was originally sold by Lillywhite, Frowd & Co. around 1909.   The 34" shaft is round except for the square length under the grip, which is an old Whitcombe No.2 wrapped rubber grip.

The cross-hatched wood face is held in place by four screws, one in each corner. Each screw tip is visible on the face. The wood itself shows minor distress, and the back of the blade is notably pitted. Even so, there is much that is right about this exceptionally rare club.
