Andrew Herd Scott was both a fine golfer and clubmaker. His Unbreakable Neck driver and brassie offered here were patented in 1895, with Scott describing the unique joint as follows: "The shaft, which tapers towards one end, is formed square or rectangular in cross section at that part and enters a correspondingly shaped recess in the neck and head of the club, the said shaft passing right through same to the sole...By this means a joint is made that is practically unbreakable, while it also gives more spring to the head and consequently greater power to the stroke, thereby enabling a ball to be driven further than with an ordinary club..."

The original 43 1/2" driver shaft is stamped "A.H. Scott Patent No. 21444" and has a sueded leather replacement grip that fits the period well. The 43 1/2" brassie has it's original sueded leather grip and stamped shaft. The shafts on both clubs are visible down the entire back of the forked neck below the whipping as well as on the front of the neck below the whipping. The brassie has a thin, discrete crack between the fork splice and the face. Condition as shown in photos.

See TCA2 v1 p159 for more on Scott's distinct club.
