This transitional Alex Patrick brassey is the very club shown and discussed in TCA2 v1 p106.  It was last sold by sotheby's in 2007 as lot 57 in the Jeffery B Ellis Antique Golf Club Collection auction held in New York City. It remains as attractive today as it was back then.

The club features a full brass soleplate and a shapely transitional head that, proportionally, is much like a long nose only slightly shorter. The 43 1/2" shaft is original as is the sheepskin grip.  The grip is a bit distressed however, as shown in the images, but overall it still presents quite well.

In 1866, Alex Patrick took over his father's clubmaking firm founded in 1847. Alex grew his skils, reputation, and the business.  His clubs are recognized as being of outstanding quality. This example is very much in that vein.
