The head on this excellent c.1890 club is significantly larger than most from this era, measuring 5 1/4" in length, 2 1/4" in width, and a full 1 1/4" in face depth.  The 39" shaft is original as is the leather wrap grip and neck whipping. The shaft is stamped "R. Forgan & Son, St. Andrews."  Great condition!

In 1856, when Robert Forgan first began making his own clubs, he stamped the top of the head with "R. Forgan" in large block letters.  In 1863, after he was appointed clubmaker to H.R.H the Prince of Wales, Forgan began to stamp each of his clubs with the Prince of Wales plume directly below his name as it is on this club.  This example has bears the Prince of Wales plume below the "R Forgan" on the crown.
