This Tom Dunn c.1880 middle spoon has been around the block - a won’t-quit tough guy in the neighborhood! Gotta love and admire the effort that went into keeping this scared, bruised and battle worn implement in the fight.

This club has a leather insert repair to the face and not one but two large screws in the top of the head to repair a head that was pretty much broken in half!  In addition, the horn has four pegs which is a clear indicator that the club had its original horn replaced as well, most likely when the leather insert was installed in the face.

From the World Golf Hall of Fame collection, this club is discreetly marked with its WGHOF inventory number on its lead backweight. The original shaft measures 40 1/2 inches and has "3A" stamped on its haft with original sheepskin grip. Head measures 5 1/2" in length, 1 7/8" in width, and 1" face depth. Everything is original.

While it is not a charming beauty of a club, it possess great character and provides a glimpse of what golfers would deal with, and how they would deal with it, when their club broke.  Certainly, this is not an expensive club, but it tells a story far different from a mint original club!
